Anglers Proven Right On Fish Bomb Source

KOTA KINABALU: Syndicates from a neighbouring country are behind the proliferation of fish bombing activities in Sabah waters.

Enforcement authorities have discovered that fuses (detonators) were being brought in for sale to foreign fishermen in the state.

“These syndicates bring in fuses to sell to foreign fishermen or Bajau Laut (sea gypsies) who are usually involved in fish bombing activities in Sabah waters,” said Sabah and Labuan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency director First Admiral Mohd Rosli Abdullah.

The confirmation comes just days after Sabah Anglers Association president Datuk Wilfred Lingham had warned of the problem.
