Authorities in San Andres, Quezon arrested five fishermen on Thursday, May 21, after they were allegedly found in possession of assorted fish believed to have been caught through illegal dynamite fishing.

The rampant illegal fishing activities in the seas off Quezon province are now taking their toll on marine species, an environmentalist group warned on Sunday.

Two brothers engaged in dynamite fishing were injured in an accidental explosion Wednesday in Polillo town in Quezon province.
